An acid baking approach to enhance heavy rare earth recovery from bituminous coal-based sources

چکیده
The recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) from secondary resources, particularly coal-based materials, has recently received attention due to supply and demand imbalance. Research reported date indicates that a high REE can be realized when treating bituminous coal sources using strong acid solutions approximately100 g/L or higher. This study introduces an approach enhance the total (TREE), especially for heavy (HREEs), these at significantly lower concentrations. Based on presence minerals like monazite xenotime, detailed investigation was undertaken quantify three pre-leach treatment methods, i.e., 1) roasting, 2) direct baking, 3) baking after roasting. Roasting tests 600 °C revealed light REEs (LREEs) enhanced while HREEs remained relatively unaffected. LREE HREE values 38.3% 21.3%, respectively, were achieved 50 (0.5 M) sulfuric solution 5% solid concentration temperature 75 2 h. Comparatively, 250 provided substantial increases in approximately 49.4% 53.0%, equivalent dosage. Recoveries maximized 77.0% 79.6% HREE, by roasting followed baking. Similar results obtained second source. Due correlations between Al values, performed kaolinite illite, which prominent clay within source coals. These experiments improvements likely result dehydroxylation clays subsequent release decomposition REE-bearing such as monazite, xenotime zircon.

Mechanical activation of phosphate concentrates to enhance dissolution efficiency of rare earth elements from a kinetic viewpoint
The Esfordi phosphate concentrate mainly contains fluorapatite, monazite, and xenotime as rare earth element (REE) minerals, accounting for 1.5% of rare earth metals. The monazite and xenotime minerals are refractory and their decomposition is only possible at high temperatures. Thus mechanical activation was used in the present work for this purpose. After 90 minutes of mechanical activation, ...

Phosphoric Acid Extraction and Rare Earth Recovery from Apatites of the Brazilian Phosphatic Ores
Various experiments led in laboratory on the concentrate of Angico dos Dias phosphate allowed us to define the following steps in the process of hydrochloric treatment: 1 – Acidification of the concentrate by HCl at 20% during two hours at ambient temperature (solid/liquid ratio of 40%, agitation speed of 200 rpm). In these conditions, the solubilisation rates of CaO and P2O5 are commonly super...
متن کاملRare Earth Elements in Soils of Jharia Coal Field
There are many sources trough which the soil get enriched and contaminated with REEs. The determination of REEs in environmental samples has been limited because of the lack of sensitive analytical techniques. Soil samples were collected from four sites including open cast coal mine, natural coal burning, coal washery and control in the coal field located in Dhanbad, India. Total concentrations...
متن کاملCoal fly ash as a resource for rare earth elements
Rare earth elements (REE) have been recognised as critical raw materials, crucial for many clean technologies. As the gap between their global demand and supply increases, the search for their alternative resources becomes more and more important, especially for the countries which depend highly on their import. Coal fly ash (CFA), which when not utilised is considered waste, has been regarded ...
